Making Crispy Baked Hot Wings

Making the perfect baked wings is difficult! Ever since I was a kid, I have been obsessed with hot wings. One day, I decided that I would like to learn how to make hot wings and buffalo sauce right from scratch. Ever since August, my boyfriend and I have made multiple attempts to make our own delicious baked wings and they are only getting better and better each time I make them. This past weekend, my boyfriend and I decided that we would make hot wings together. I promised in an earlier blog post that I would discuss how I make baked hot wings from scratch.

Me and my boyfriend always make baked hot wings as opposed to fried. It makes us feel like we are at least ‘trying’ to be healthier I guess. For months, we have been trying to make baked hot wings which are just as good as fried hot wings. The other day, I think we just about got there.

The sauce I made the other night was excellent. It was far better than the previous sauces I had made in the past. I have tried many buffalo sauce recipes online, but the other night I used this one from Allrecipes. I found a picture of one of the recipes I went by on my phone. All I did was blend the ingredients together and it came out great! I think I did end up having to add a little more butter after it was all mixed together, but it tasted excellent.

My boyfriend always insists on broiling the hot wings to make them crispy while I always insist on breading the wings and using baking powder to dry them out. The other day, we combined both methods.

First, we threw the hot wings in a bowl filled with flour and a small amount of baking powder. We let the hot wings sit there for around 15-20 minutes.

Once the oven was done heating, we broiled the wings on high for 5 minutes. We then cooked the hot wings at 425-degrees Fahrenheit for around 40 minutes I believe, flipping the wings over halfway.

I will admit that the crispiness was inconsistent, I think it would have been better if we had a baking rack, but I had left that in my apartment back in Flagstaff.
